The Southern railway standardised on Pullman Gangways and drophead Buckeye couplings.
There are 3 standard widths 8, 8.6 & 9 R0 R1 R4, the only differences between a lot of designs
of the same basic type is the width of the body. Different coach diagrams can belong to the same
RSCO. The RSCO - Rolling Stock Construction Order is usually for a few sets, unlike the lots of
other railways where all coaches in a lot are of the same type.
